FAMI believes that family involvement can further enrich our
musical experience. We also know that camp instruction can often
open the door for family members to learn new instruments or try things
for the first time. FAMI has long had class offerings for a wide
variety of ages ranging from Kids Samplers courses to courses where
teenagers can attend.
Despite many successful aspects of recent Kids classes, several issues
have arisen including low turnout, very wide age groups, and the need to
deal with liability management issues for the instructors and the
organization.
As a result, unfortunately we will not be offering a Kids Sampler Class
in 2009. Rather, children 12 or over are welcome for classes
provided they are accompanied (see the age requirements are listed on
the appropriate camp information page MAY or
AUGUST.
The FAMI Board will be working on renewing and revitalizing the Kids and
Family aspects of the music camps as we do believe it is a valuable
contribution to the musical community.
