All three of the FAMI events are held at Kamp Kiwanis. We rent the entire camp which is situated on the Elbow River. The 140 acre camp features a beautiful Main Lodge with modern kitchen, a big hall for concerts and rooms suitable for small group teaching. In addition to the Main Lodge, there are several smaller lodges and log cabins that are natural gas heated and used for accommodation, teaching and jamming areas. Camping is facilitated by a large open field with a power supply that will accommodate about 20 recreation vehicles. Kamp Kiwanis is a camp for underprivileged children and our use of the camp helps to sponsor summer camps for boys and girls.
Accommodation: Room allocation is on a first registered basis and compatibility. Due to space limitations at the camp, we cannot guarantee private rooms for individuals or couples. Bunk rooms in the lodges, cabins and house are shared so register early as a group to know your roommates. Camping is also available with a central power hook-up, so ensure your water tanks are full and bring a long extension chord. Washrooms with showers are located in the lodges, house and near the cabins.
Food: Healthy and hearty meals are served three times per day on Saturday (and Sunday if applicable) and twice on the final day of the camp. Evening snacks are also provided. A travelers' supper of soup and sandwiches is provided on Friday evening.
Bring: A three ring binder for class notes, your instrument, tape recorder, extra strings etc., tab/music paper, ear plugs (for sleeping), personal needs, bedding and towels, and reading glasses (if needed) and a camera to record forever those precious memories.
Camp Policy:
