FAMI's Policy on Instrument Amplifiers

The FAMI Board has recently reviewed and revised the policy for amplifiers at camps. After a thorough consultation with a broad group of camp participants and instructors the decision was made to not allow any amplifiers at any of the camps. As a pilot project, "slim line" basses and their corresponding amplifiers were allowed for some camps over the last couple of years. However after a careful review the board has decided to return to the acoustic roots of the camp and not allow any amps at camp.

We do understand that many players would love to bring semi-acoustic guitars, basses and even amplified ukulele basses to camp but FAMI is first and foremost an acoustic camp. Feel free to bring your acoustic bass, but please leave the amp at home. Please note that anyone bringing an amp will be asked to store it in a vehicle and, as with all rules at camp, those unwilling to abide by the camp rules will be asked to leave. Feel free to chat with a board member at camp if you want to discuss the matter further.
